Heath In STARmeter’s Top 25 List of 2009
   15
   Dec

The Internet Movie Database has announced the Top Stars of 2009, which are determined by the site’s unique visitors.

Johnny Depp may be the “Sexiest Man Alive,” but Robert Pattinson is the most sought-after. Hunky “Twilight” franchise vampire Robert Pattinson was at the top of the list, ending the five-year domination by Johnny Depp. R-Patz was joined by on-screen lady love Kristen Stewart at No. 2. Who else made the list?

“Twilight: New Moon” stars dominated the Top 25, representing almost 25% of the list. In fact, “Twilight” stars made-up 40% of the Top 10 with Robert Pattinson (No. 1), Kristen Stewart (No. 2), Taylor Lautner (No. 5) and Dakota Fanning (No. 8). Ashley Greene and Nikki Reed also made the list, at No. 11 and No. 15 respectively.

We’re a bit surprised Kellan Lutz isn’t on there. He’s just as hunky as Pattinson and Lautner. Also, who knew Dakota Fanning would be so high on the list? Notable absences: “Harry Potter” actors.

This makes me so happy. Bless Heath, he’s no longer with us yet he still makes no 24! It just shows how well loved he was and still is!

  • Dee Says:

It just goes to show, that even if you are gone, you’re not forgotten. Heath is up there with some of the best, and in my personal estimation, he IS the best. Love and miss you Heath, you still live on in the memory and hearts of all your fans. You have left a lasting impression on us all.

  • Hayden Says:

Heath deserves to be at the top of this list in all truthfulness, but I’m just glad he made it at all.

Also congrats to his co-star Christian Bale for making number seven.

    We miss you, Heath. ♥

    Remembering Heath:
As tomorrow (Jan. 22nd) marks the second anniversary of his passing, I just wanted to take a minute to say hello to all of Heath’s fans across the globe, and I hope that you will all be taking time to pay tribute to him on that day. Maybe you are lighting a candle and perhaps watching one of his movies, or even just taking a few minutes to keep him in your thoughts. But whatever you are doing, it’s a reminder of the post above and the comments made, that although Heath is gone, he is not forgotten. And we must never forget to remember.

  • Emma Breeze Says:

Beautifully said Dee! I think there will be so many of us today thinking of the fantastic actor, father, son, but most of all, the amazing person that was Heath! He will live on through his films, his family and friends and of course his beautiful little girl Matilda who is so like her Daddy. Heath, you will never be forgotton xx

I totally agree with you, he should be number one. He ís number one.

Heath, I will never forget you. I still miss you, it wasn’t your time to go.

Two years.. How time flies ;(

  • Hayden Says:

I completely forgot that today was the two year anniversary of his passing, which is slightly ironic because I was actually in tears over him today because I was watching some old interviews of him. I’ve been thinking about him all day. I miss him so, so much.

  • Cliff040479 Says:

    I agree with everybody!!! Lolz…

  • Hayden Says:

This update is so old, is there no news on Heath that is more recent? Perhaps the administrator (if he/she is reading this) could post dates/times of when Heath’s movies are going to play on TV? Or when The Imaginairum of Doctor Parnassus is going to be released on DVD in the US? Or post scans of articles that Heath’s name has been mentioned in . . . ?

  • Dee Says:

Well said Hayden! I keep checking every day to see if there are new updates. We need them, to keep Heath’s memory alive. As you said, they could post when his movies are going to be on TV, or when Imaginarium will be released on DVD, things like that. Maybe upcoming books or magazine articles, anything would be great. I would hate to see this site fade away. Maybe if Heath’s fans know of anything that might be interesting, they can leave a comment here. I know I’ll be keeping my eyes open for sure, and if I see something, I’ll post it.

  • Emma Breeze Says:

Well said both of you!! As Dee said, we can’t let this site fade away, so I guess it’s up to ALL of us to do our bit. I’ll certainly be on the lookout for anything regarding Heath from now on. We MUST keep Heath’s memory alive, so PLEASE, let’s see more updates!!!

  • Hayden Says:

That sounds like a great idea guys, I’m in. I will scour the internet for whatever I can find.

By the way, have the both of you seen The Patriot? I just finished watching it for the first time and I feel so heartbroken. It was a beautiful but very sad movie.

  • Emma Breeze Says:

I’ve never seen it Hayden, I’m ashamed to say I didn’t realise Heath was in it until recently. Sometimes I can watch Heath (Brokeback Mountain mainly) and come away feeling happy about seeing him, but other times I’m left with that empty sad feeling. I just love to hear his voice and see him smile, but again I’m left thinking there could of been so much more! He had so much more to give himself!
By the way, did you ever get to see Dr Parnassus?

  • Dee Says:

I saw The Patriot a long time ago. It was a really good movie, I don’t have it in my collection but I should add it. Now, I have found a couple of books on Heath that his fans may be interested in. If you go to http://www.amazon.com and get into the book department, then type in Heath Ledger, a whole bunch of stuff comes up. One book is titled: Heath Ledger – Talented Actor (Lives Cut Short) by Stephanie Watson. It’s available to order now. The other book is titled: Heath Ledger (Rex Collections) by Ray Tedman, and it’s available June 1st. I plan to add both of those to my collection. There are lots of other items for Heath on Amazon as well – movies of course, and I think some posters and T-shirts. Just check out the different departments, type in Heath’s name, and all will be revealed.

  • Emma Breeze Says:

Just to let any UK people know, The Imaginarium Of Doctor Parnassus can be pre-ordered on DVD. It is due for release on the 29th of March, so not long to wait. I’ve already ordered my copy and can’t wait!

  • Hayden Says:

Emma Breeze: no, I have not yet seen The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, although I am dying to do so! I am curious to know when this movie is coming out on DVD in the States.

And Dee, thanks for letting us know of those books. I will have to check those out.

Also, I know what you mean about sometimes feeling empty after watching a movie of Heath’s. Of course it is not because of his perfomance(s), but it is because we know that we’ll never see that big smile of his in another movie. I watch ’10 Things I Hate About You’ often and while I love this movie dearly, it does makes me cry every time.

As for The Patriot, it is a must-see movie of Heath’s. I love it.

I have not yet seen Brokeback, though I hear it is good. Are the rumors true?

  • Emma Breeze Says:

Hayden, you have GOT to see Brokeback Mountain, it really is an amazing film. I’ve lost count of the times I’ve watched it. Heath’s performance in BBM went beyond brilliant. I know many people thought he should have won an Oscar for it, me included. I’m sure Dee will agree, if there is one film of Heath’s you must see, it’s Brokeback Mountain. A little warning though, stock up on the tissues as you will definitely need them. PLEASE go and buy youself a copy, you WON’T be disappointed!!

  • Dee Says:

Hayden: As Emma said, you HAVE to see Brokeback. It’s an incredible movie and story, very moving, and exceptionally well put together. Definitely a “must see”. You will not be disappointed by any of the acting you see on screen, Heath, Jake, and Michelle give this movie their very best. Another one of Heath’s movies you might want to check out if you haven’t already, is Candy. This was made in Australia, shortly after he finished Brokeback, and I couldn’t find it in the stores, I had to order it online from ‘amazon’ but again, Heath gives another amazing performance in this movie. A very serious subject matter, but extremely well acted. So, as Emma said, go and buy yourself a copy of Brokeback Mountain, and also Candy if you can get it. And yes, keep those tissues close at hand, for both.

  • Hayden Says:

I guess I will definitely have to check at Brokeback Mountain then, won’t I? I’ll see if I can purchase it here soon (along with some tissues, of course, I just know I’ll be crying my eyes out.)

Have any of you by chance ever seen The Order or the movie Four Feathers? I would really to watch these movies but I wanted to get someone else’s opinion on them to see if they were any good first. They are so many of Heath’s movies that I have never seen – I want to watch them all.

  • Emma Breeze Says:

Would you believe I have both of these movies on DVD but have yet to watch them. I must admit, I find it hard to drag myself away from Brokeback Mountain. I really should watch them. I’m pretty sure Dee has seen both of them. She’ll be able to tell you more about them!
Ps. Get that copy of Brokeback ordered, you’ll LOVE it!!

  • Dee Says:

Hayden: I own both The Order (Sin Eater) and The Four Feathers. Both good movies, both totally different. The Order wasn’t classed as a very successful movie, and didn’t get very good reviews, but I think alot depends on the individual, and personal taste. Heath was amazing in both movies, bringing each character to life so perfectly, like he did in all his movies. Of the two, I think The Four Feathers was the better movie, but that is my opinion. I agree with Emma, definitely see Brokeback Mountain, and also Candy if you can find it. I think that any character Heath played, was exceptional, even if the movie might not be to your liking, I have seen a couple of Heath’s movies that were not personal favourites, but that was more because of the movie itself, and not the talent that is presented onscreen. Heath excelled in all he did. My favourite movies of Heath’s would be – Brokeback Mountain, The Dark Knight, Candy, A Knights Tale, and The Four Feathers. Judge for yourself, but whenever you get the opportunity to see one of his movies, you will love Heath’s attention that he gives to his characters. Hope this helps. Dee…

  • Emma Breeze Says:

I was hoping there might have been an update on the site seeing as today would have been Heath’s 31st birthday. Sadly not!
I just wanted to say, thinking of you today Heath more than ever, wishing you were here to celebrate with your family and of course little Matilda! My thoughts are with your family and you of course are in my heart!

  • Dee Says:

Lovely comment Emma – I too will be thinking of Heath today and also wishing that he could be here to celebrate his birthday with his family. I will be watching one of his movies tonight in his honour. God bless you Heath, and happy birthday.

  • shane K Says:

24 Are you kidding me! May god forgive you all god bliss you Heath Ledger… I’ll see you soon my friend my hero…

  • Hayden Says:

So dissappointed to find that there wasn’t an update on Heath’s 31rst birthday. Oh well.

Well, since the last time we talked, I have watched a few of Heath’s movies that I’ve never seen before.

First off, I must comment on ‘The Order’, which I thought was absolutely phenomenal. I loved it. Heath’s perfomance was so raw – especially the particular scene where he is mourning the loss of his lover. It brought tears to my eyes. The soundtrack is also exceptionally amazing.

Secondly, I recently watched ‘Casonova’, which is a hilarious and light-hearted tale that I thoroughly enjoyed. It took a while for me to get used to seeing Heath in a big, elaborate wig, but eventually the storyline won me over and I became so engrossed in the film I didn’t even notice anymore. (He was actually quite handsome in it!) Anyway, the movie was so amusing and I was laughing the whole way through. Wonderful tongue-in-cheek movie.

I’ve still yet to see Brokeback Mountain, although I really want to see The Four Feathers before I watch BB, only because I want to save one of Heath’s best movies for last.

  • Hayden Says:

P.s. Dear Administrator, update soon! Please?

  • Emma Breeze Says:

I’m with Hayden, MORE UPDATES PLEASE!

Hayden, glad to hear you have been enjoying some more of Heath’s movies. I’ve got a couple to catch up with myself, The Order being one of them, The Four Feathers and The Brothers Grimm.
On Saturday night, my husband is out so I’ll be indulging in none other than Brokeback Mountain. I need my regular fix!
Lovely to hear from you and glad you are enjoying our Heath!

  • Dee Says:

    It’s Been A While….
I’d hate to see this site disappear, it’s been so long since there has been an update. Hayden – you still out there? Haven’t heard from you for a while, how are you doing with Heath’s movies, have you watched anything lately? Anyway, it’s so sad to see that things have gone quiet after Doctor Parnassus came out, but it would be nice to see comments from Heath’s fans. Maybe sharing thoughts would be a nice way to keep this site going. Hayden, if you are still checking in, drop a few lines and say hi. In the meantime, a big hello to all Heath’s fans across the globe.

  • Emma Breeze Says:

That’s a great idea Dee and yes, Hayden if you’re still checking in now and again, please say Hi.
I did actually read something about Heath in the paper yesterday. A friend of Heath’s N’Fa is releasing a music video, that Heath directed. It’s out on Monday 12th July and is called Cause and Effect. This is what he said about Heath, “I was heartbroken after he died but the song is about overcoming depression, and I thought people would want to see what Heath created before he died”
Even if we can can only find titbits on our beloved Heath, it’s better than nothing. So come on all you Heath fans out there. Let’s keep his memory alive!

  • Hayden Says:

I’m still here! I’ve finally watched The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus! I thought it was a bit weird, but I appreciated it’s quirkiness and loved Heath’s performance. I wish he could’ve been in more of it.

On another note, has anyone seen Christopher Nolan’s Inception? It is a phenomenal movie, but I have to wonder that if Heath were still alive, if he would have been the star of the film instead of Leonardo. It seems to me that Christopher Nolan usually likes to work with actors that he’s familiar with or has worked with before. Christain Bale – The Prestige, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and Cicillian Murphy – BB, TDK, and Inception. I would have loved to of seen Heath play the main character in Inception. It would have made a phenomenal movie even more extraordinary. Do you think Nolan would have chosen Heath for the main role?

  • Emma Breeze Says:

Hayden, you’re back!! Great to hear from you and I’m so glad you’ve finally seen Dr P!
Yes, I’ve seen Inception and loved it although I think I’ll need to see it again to really understand everything! It does make you wonder if Chris Nolan would have chosen Heath for this movie. If not Inception, I’m sure they would have worked together again at some point.
I have to ask you this, could you see the likeness between Heath and Joseph Gordon Levitt? It takes my breath away sometimes!

So, what Heath movies have you got left to watch? I’ve still got a few to get through which feels nice. A little bit left of Heath that I haven’t seen yet!

Anyway, I’m so happy you’re still around, I’m always checking in just incase there’s anything new. Still living in hope!!!

  • Dee Says:

Hayden – nice to hear from you again after so long. To answer your question I did see Inception. Loved the concept but just couldn’t get into it. I found it so confusing, and I just got lost. Interesting though, you wondering if Christopher Nolan might have chosen Heath for the lead role. He would have been awesome for sure.

I was online a little while ago and found this interesting piece of news, thought I’d post it on the site for you and all of Heath’s fans to see. This is a direct cut & paste of the article:

Russell Crowe will take the place of late actor Heath Ledger in upcoming Australian film Dirt Music.

The tragic star, who passed away in 2008, had originally signed up to star in the film adaptation of Tim Winton’s novel alongside Rachel Weisz, but he later quit the production in order to tackle the role of The Joker in Batman movie The Dark Knight.

The project ground to a halt as producers searched for a replacement for Ledger, and now director Phillip Noyce has finally confirmed the film will be moving forward with Crowe in the lead role.

Noyce tells the Sydney Daily Telegraph, “We were all set to go with Heath and Rachel Weisz. We had the money at that point. And then Heath decided to play the Joker which you couldn’t argue with. And then it just took a while to find someone else to play (the lead role of) Luther.”

The movie will mark Crowe’s first appearance in an Australian film in more than a decade, and comes just weeks after actor vowed not to leave his adopted homeland for the next year so he can spend more time with his family.
