Modest Mouse - King Rat Video Directed By Heath

Published by admin at 3:05 am under News, Videos

A Modest Mouse video directed by late movie star Heath Ledger premiered online Tuesday (August 4th)

The animated promo for “King Rat” will debut on MySpace.com.

Oscar winner Ledger conceived the video’s theme in order to raise awareness of the plight of whales hunted down illegally off the coast of his native Australia, according to NME.com.

Ledger failed to complete the video before his death in January 2008; the project was finished by the actor’s partners at film company The Masses.

A very powerful video. I am so pleased it was completed on Heath’s behalf. Even though we no longer have Heath with us, this video shows what a wonderful human being he was and how he wanted to make things better in the world. By letting people know about this video we can make sure that his legacy lives on.

I agree Emma - a very powerful video indeed, with clever use of role reversal to help get across the message that he was trying to portray. I’m glad that Heath’s friends were able to complete this on his behalf. Heath would have been an amazing director, I know it’s something he always wanted to do, and like his passion for acting, he would have been great at it - he had a very good eye. Heath would have been very happy to know that this particular piece of work is now finished for all to see, enjoy, and most importantly to learn from.

Hi Hayden - Dee here. What Emma means, is check the “Recent Posts” to the left of this page, and click on the link for “Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus Hits The Web”. Once in there, scroll down to the comments, and in one of them Emma leaves a link for the official trailer for “Imaginarium”, and if you click on that link, you will see it. It’s pretty amazing, you will love it. Anyway, hope this helps…

Hello Dee and Emma, I do understand now what you are talking about. I watched the trailer and I have to say - it looks phenomenal! Nothing like I ever imagined but everything I had hoped to expect and more. Heath looks absolutely amazing as always, and seeing him smile in the trailer was one of the best things I have seen in a very long time. It made my day.

Thank you for sharing the link with me. (The video was in such good quality too!)

I cannot wait to see this movie. I hope it scores big at the box office, if only for Heath’s sake. He most definitely deserves it.

    Anyways, thanks again! :)

I agree with you Hayden, the previews for this movie are even better than I had anticipated. Even though we have to wait till the end of the year to see it, I guarantee it will be worth it. I look forward to keeping in touch and enjoying future discussions with you.

Hi Hayden, so glad you have seen trailer and loved it. I am starting to hear more people talking about it which is great. I have said to Dee it is a shame we won’t all see it at the same time but like you said it will definitely be worth the wait! It’s lovely to have got to know you on this site thanks to our darling Heath. My e-mail address is on the Dr P post where we have left comments. Dee and I have been having quite a few chats which has been great! Feel free to get in touch if you ever fancy a chat about Heath or anything. Take care, Em.

Emma, I was wandering if you might know where I can go to see this video. I tried watching on this site, but apparently is not for view in this country (I’m in U.S.A!) Surprising, but this is the message I got when attempting to watch. As a Heath’s fan, I’m sure you can appreciate me wanting to see it. Thanks.

Hi Rosadahlia. I’ve desperately been trying to find a way for you so try this and see if you can view it; Google Modest Mouse and click on Modest Mouse Videos on page 1 on the right hand side. Once you are in, scroll down and you should see King Rat by MM. It played ok for me so I really hope it does for you! Let me know what happens and if not we’ll go back to the drawing board and try something else. Good luck, Em.
